Student Chapter Needs Your Help

Aloha Everyone!

Lana needs help, I would like to see you all helping out to show the industry folks that we exist and are more than willing to help when the need is there. I look forward to seeing you all attend these functions and network with the people who will be hiring you! So contact Lana to help out.

Wow . . . we have a bunch of events fast approaching! Please see below for a listing of Upcoming Events that we’ll need volunteers for:

BIA Hawaii
Green Expo at the Neal Blaisdell – August 8th through August 10th
Need a bunch of volunteers to help throughout these days – it’s similar to the BIA Trade Show that was held in January. There will be shifts available throughout these days – please contact me to sign-up.

CMAA Hawaii
Community Service Project at Hale Hilina’i Lanai – August 9th
9:00 am through 3:00 pm – Repainting the Lanai area
Located at 902 Alder Street, Honolulu, Hawaii
Lunch and Drinks to be provided by CMAA Chapter

Design Build Institute of America (DBIA)
DBIA Golf Tournament at the Hawaii Prince – September 5th
We’ll need 2 to 4 volunteers to help with this event – we’ll have both morning and afternoon shifts available – please contact me if you’re interested in helping. This organization awards $5,000 scholarships.

CMAA Scholarship Golf Tournament at Coral Creek Golf Course
October 3rd, Coral Creek Golf Course – 91-111 Geiger Road, Ewa Beach
Several volunteers will be needed – there will be morning, afternoon and dinner shifts available to work throughout the day.

Please let me know, if you’ll be able to help with any of these events. Email me and I can send you more information since I’ll be coordinating our volunteers for these events. We would appreciate your help with this!

Congratulations Sam Jung!

Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Analyzes job plans, visits the job site, interviews the job supervisor and presents a bid based on the data acquired.
2. Determines how much a project would cost, how long the project would take to complete and how much revenue the project should generate. Takes into account factors such as labor costs, material costs, equipment rental, shipping, facility costs and required permits and licensing.
3. Works closely with the project supervisor to make sure the project meets all regulatory guidelines.
4. Reads and interprets plans and completes Site Takeoffs.
5. Works with customers to develop tailored solutions.
6. Acts as the company representative at Project Pre-Bid meetings.
7. Works with Operations Department to formulate project plan.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• College degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or mathematics
• 2 to 5 years of experience working in Estimating capacity
• Experience with Outlook MS Excel and Word
• Well Organized; Excellent Verbal and Written Communications Skills
• Prefer Individual with Construction Experience or Education

*We will train the right individual to be successful in today’s construction industry.
