More Job Placements!

Congratulations to Jacklyn Plan and Mabel Wong who earned internships recently. Jackie will be working for Brett Hill and Associates. Brett Hill is a full service Construction Management Company and General Contractor. Gregg Kodama the vice president of the firm also serves on the Construction Management Advisory Committee. Mabel was hired by ITSI Gilbane, ITSI GIlbane is a international construction, environmental, and energy firm with 64 offices worldwide. Big mahalo to both Gregg Kodama and Bill Grip for providing these opportunities for our students. Also a thank you to Bryan Zachmeier from AMEC for the referral to Bill.

CMAA Mini Conference

Aloha gang,

We are very pleased to announce our Chapter’s 2nd Annual Mini Conference on Wednesday, June 19th.  The conference will run a half day starting with lunch and includes 5 exciting Construction Management related presentations. Following the presentations, we will have a chapter social hour (pupus provided).  The speakers/topics include:

  • Richard Andrews (Neutral Intervention & Facilitation) / Utilizing Stakeholders
  • Stuart Ujimori (City & County of Honolulu) / Lessons Learned on Wastewater Construction Projects
  • Norman Takeya (Honolulu Community College) / 3D Printing
  • Brennon Morioka (HART) / CM Opportunities and HART
  • Dave Conover (HDR/CMAA National) / CM Certification

The Hawaii chapter of the CMAA will be holding a mini conference on June 19, 2013 at Fort Shafter. More details to follow in the near future.

Great ending to our school year was a whatevers potluck and it all worked out well with more than enough food and desserts for all. Next year we need some entertainment.

We are looking for members to join the CMAA student chapter and the NAHB student chapter, please contact Mike Handy at Its going to be a big year for the student chapters coming up.
